This interview originally aired on KTLA Weekend Morning News on Saturday, June 9, 2018, shortly after the world was shocked by the suicides of fashion icon Kate Spade and celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain. “Understanding & Preventing Suicide with Mental Health Advocate Robert David Jaffee.”
On May 24, 2016, on the occasion of Mental Health Awareness Month, Robert appeared on Fox 11 News in Los Angeles with anchor Marla Tellez. He discussed overcoming the stigma of psychosis and offered advice to those who suffer from mental illness and to their families.
Baseball Ferry 1989
As a 23-year-old waterfront planner at the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, Robert gave the keynote address at the 1989 opening of the “Baseball Ferry.” The ferry, which Robert conceptualized, planned and implemented, took fans from various locations in New York to the World’s Fair Marina for New York Mets games.
